The Heart Institute is the home of the Midwest’s first comprehensive Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU), providing best-in-class care to those relying on our expertise. Patients come to our CICU for heart failure, open heart surgery, heart transplants and more—and they are with us for weeks—even months—at a time. With that in mind, the new CICU rooms are larger, allow for privacy, personal touches and better sleeping accommodations for parents to help make their room feel a little more like home.
And as home to one of the only Adult Congenital Heart Programs in the nation, our new CICU offers adult-sized accommodations to meet the unique needs of these patients.
